Newsletters
About
Thanks to desktop publishing, everyone, including Aunt Mabel in Topeka, can now publish his or her own newsletter. This is not necessarily a good thing. And it’s given newsletters kind of a bad name.
But a well-written, well-designed newsletter with a tight focus can be an extraordinarily useful channel.
Take What’s Happening at Vassar, for example. Nothing “sells” Vassar as well as Vassar students. They’re intelligent, articulate, resourceful, and ambitious, and they’re always up to something worth telling about—organizing a Quidditch team…starting a medical clinic in Uganda…doing research on the psychology of well being…orchestrating the Hudson Valley’s first national cycling race. What’s Happening provides a channel for bringing those stories forward.
Designers: Charles Mosco (On Campus), George Laws (What’s Happening at Vassar and Vassar Views), and Richard Deon (Vassar Views)
